Pillion

Safety

Safety first

Pillion puts content on the dashboard of a moving motorcycle. Riding is dangerous; a screen in your field of view can make it more so. Read this before you use it.

The short version

  • Set up your route while parked. Never type, search or tap your phone while moving.
  • Use a glanceable map only. Don't mirror video, messages or anything that pulls your attention off the road.
  • Your eyes belong on the road, not on the dash. Treat a glance at the map like a glance at the speedometer — a fraction of a second.
  • If in doubt, pull over.

This is experimental software

Pillion is a hobby / interoperability project, provided as-is with no warranty. It is not a safety device, not certified, and not affiliated with or endorsed by Yamaha or Garmin. It can disconnect, lag, freeze, show a stale frame, or stop without warning. Never rely on it for anything safety-critical.

You are responsible

  • You are responsible for riding safely and lawfully at all times.
  • Local laws differ on what may be displayed or operated while riding. Displaying a phone screen on your dash may be restricted or illegal where you ride — check your local rules.
  • The dash is for assistance only. Keep full attention on traffic, road conditions and your surroundings.

Battery & device heat

Screen capture, JPEG encoding, GPS and continuous Bluetooth drain the phone and generate heat — especially in a sealed mount in direct sun. Use the in-app battery & quality settings to lower quality or cap the frame rate, keep the phone cool, and watch your charge on long rides.
